Huaxing Zhu, Ph.D.

2023 AYS Fellow - Physical Science

Associate Professor, School of Physics, Peking University

Research Area: Theoretical High Energy Physics

Award Citation: The AYSF Committee acknowledges his contribution to application of quantum field theory in high energy collider physics and would like to support his exploration around first-principle quantum field theory operator algebra, precision quantum chromodynamics phenomenology, and high precision data from LHC experiments.

Bio: HuaXing Zhu is an Associate Professor at the School of Physics, Peking University. He obtained his PhD degree in 2012 from Peking University. Since then, he has been a postdoctoral fellow at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and the Center for Theoretical Physics at MIT. He held a tenured-track researcher position at Zhejiang University from 2017 to 2023 before moving to Peking University. His research interests involve quantum field theory and particle physics, with a particular focus on the development of theoretical tools for studying the strong interactions of quarks and gluons in quantum chromodynamics. He has made important contributions to the precision physics program at the Large Hadron Collider. He is also a pioneer in applying energy correlators and conformal field theory methods in the study of jets in high-energy colliders. He received the Qiushi Outstanding Young Scholar Award in 2020 for his contributions to theoretical particle physics.
