Award Citation: The AYSF Committee acknowledges his contribution to algorithmic foundations of data protection and privacy, and would like to support his exploration in scaling up the privacy protection mechanisms and designing trustworthy and privacy-preserving algorithms for decision making.
Bio: Reza Shokri is a Presidential Young Professor of Computer Science at National University of Singapore. His research focuses on data privacy and trustworthy machine learning. He is an active member of the privacy and security research community. He is a recipient of the IEEE Security and Privacy (S&P) Test-of-Time Award 2021, for his paper on analyzing location privacy, the Caspar Bowden Award for Outstanding Research in Privacy Enhancing Technologies in 2018, for his work on analyzing the privacy risks of machine learning algorithms, and a Best Paper Award at ACM FAccT 2023, for his work on analyzing fairness in machine learning. He has received the NUS Early Career Research Award 2019, VMWare Early Career Faculty Award 2021, Meta (Facebook) Faculty Research Award 2021, Intel Faculty Research Award (Private AI Collaborative Research Institute) 2021-2023, and Google Faculty Research Award on Data Protection and Privacy 2021. He obtained his PhD from EPFL.
